Senior Instructor Defcon-1 Firearms Training

Carol Collum has 10 years of law enforcement experience with the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) and 10 years of educational experience with the Illinois Board of Education. While working with the IDOC, she worked primarily as a senior corrections parole agent supervising a caseload of about 350 individuals who were newly released from prison. Her role in education consisted primarily as an administrator functioning as a dean of students. Ms. Collum possesses a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a master’s degree in social work, a master’s degree in educational leadership, and is in the final stages of a doctorate in educational leadership.

In 2001, Ms. Collum established Safe-Guard Security and Investigation Corporation and Safe-Guard Training and Development Corporation after obtaining the private security contractors and private detective licenses issued by the IDFPR. Both agencies allow Ms. Collum to provide business firms and organizations with consulting, security and protective services, investigative services, training and professional development, and health and safety services. She has been an NRA law enforcement firearm instructor since 2002 and currently oversees an Illinois approved training academy where she routinely conducts basic security or armed courses, firearm training, and concealed carry classes.
